A gorgeous spring day
After a week of dark, dreary, gloomy rainy days..... Today we finally have a absolutely gorgeous day filled with sunshine. And.... it is the weekend!
I am looking forward for spring weather to arrive.... with warmer temperatures, lots of sunshine and lots of flowers blooming in our rose garden and flower beds.
Today I took my daughter to her appointment for an eye exam and new glasses. My son and I had ours on Thursday. After this appointment I decided to go to Barnes and Noble and check to see if a book I had ordered was in yet. No.... not yet. I am wishing now I had ordered the book "Weekend Knitting" from Amazon.com or another online discounter. But no...... I did not do this and have been waiting for about a month for this book to arrive. It is due in by tomorrow but was told today that since it will be Sunday.... books would not arrive until Monday with a April 4th due in date. Anyways.... while in the store I just had to go look at more knitting books. I restrained myself from buying several books that I really like. I may give Amazon.com a try for ordering these books. I did find some really nice gifts for my family for Christmas. I found these really nice photo albulms with each page having frames of various sizes. I had to buy several for a gift for each of my 4 children and for my parents. I plan to make some copies of photos of my children growing up and family photos to put into each albulm. My parents did this for us this past Christmas and it was such a nice gift to receive. All with photos of when me and my 2 brothers and sister all growing up until now. Photos of my parents when they were dating, getting married, etc.
When I arrived home I started working on an wedding albulm for my oldest daughter. It really will be nice when I get it completed. I would like to give her this for her birthday this month. And thought it would be nice to also make an albulm of when my oldest grand-daughter was born almost 5 years ago. These are all going to be with photos that I know that my daughter and son-in-law do not have.
I guess today has been a day of planning gifts for upcoming birthdays. I took out some fabric to sew a few dresses for my 4 year old niece, my soon to be 5 year old grand-daughter and my niece whom will be 2 in August. These will be cut out and sewn tomorrow. We will be visiting with my family over spring break or Easter weekend and I would like to have these gifts all completed to give to everyone while we are there.
I have been trying to knit the last few rows on the socks I have been knitting. I hope to have this done sometime tonight. And then I can concentrate on knitting on my husbands socks.... blah.... grey is the color. I just can't stick with blah colors for very long. I love lots of color and find things that are vibrant to work with. So, looks like I will begin knitting another Booga Bag this weekend to switch over to knitting when I can't stand knitting with the grey yarn for the socks.
As I re-read this.... it looks like I have had a very productive day. Not really.... just appears that way.
As some of my knitting friends know.... I have been on a yarn diet.... then fell off of it a couple of weeks ago. Well..... today I really blew it! I found some yarn on a website that was on sale that I just could not resist because I knew if I did not act quick.... it would be completely sold out. So..... more wools of various solids and varigated are on there way here within the next week. I am so excited! Don't worry I left some for others to buy also. LOL!!! Now I will have lots of colors to choose from and need to look through my felted knitting patterns to plan what I want to knit. I want a pair of Fuzzy Feet and plan to add some eyelash yarn around the ankles of the slippers. I also want to knit some felted ballet slippers for my 2 nieces and my grand-daughter. They will all love these. I won't make these until fall though since these will be for Christmas gifts. And we all know how fast little ones feet grow in just a few months. So these obviously have to wait for atleast the felting part. Hmm.... I will have to check the pattern to see about how these are sized. Maybe I can atleast knit them now, felt later.
Well..... I am justifying this breaking of the yarn diet.... again. After all.... my Gastrointestinal doctor told me on Wednesday to "increase my fiber intake" some more. So.... wool is fiber..... does that count for an increase in fiber?...... LOL!!!! Of course I am only kidding..... the fiber he means in the fiber capsules I am taking each day. But thought of this little funny since I have been wanting more wool for felting projects. OK.... kind of a goofy joke.... but when I thought of it gave me a much needed laugh and I thought I would share this.... even though it is silly.
Wishing everyone a great weekend. Tomorrow I am hoping to make several batches of soap and also attend a get together with a few soapmaking friends for dinner.
Sharon
