Yarn store closing sale..... cancelled

I had a true disappointment today. The local yarn store that was closing.... they cancelled their closing sale. The owner sold her complete inventory to another yarn store. I am happy for the owner that she was able to work out a sale for everything to one buyer. But so sad that there is not a 40% sale after all.

So.... my long wish list..... went poof! Oh well.... that is just how things go at times. And this was one of those times.

I had pretty much decided that I needed to focus on what I "needed", not "wanted". So, my plan was to buy some dyes for dyeing wool, dyed wools and other spinning supplies. The Rowan 35 Book with the Audrey sweater.... I had plans to buy this today. I would have bought some glitzy novelty yarns for the felted purses I love to make. Cascade wool yarns in a large variety of colors would have been nice. And now my dreams of having Brittany Birch or Rosewood knitting needles.... poof... gone! I had wanted one pair.... size 13.... 10 inch long for knitting scarves.

Since I did not go to this yarn sale.... what did I do today? I washed some of my handspun yarns to set the twist, soaked these in conditioner to make a nice soft yarn to work with. These are hanging to dry. I also am soaking/washing the remaining portion of another fleece.

Last night I spent some time spinning a 2nd bobbin of yarn and plyed it with the 1st bobbin of yarn. Started spinning some wool that I had carded earlier yesterday. This yarn is turning out lovely..... I blended a natural white with a pretty lilac dyed Romney wool locks on my drum carder. This blending created beautiful batts of wool for me to create a pair of bulky slippers for my oldest daughter.

Started another pair of slippers for my youngest daughter also. I plan to surprise both of my daughters with these slippers. I know they will love them.

Today is a beautiful spring type of day. The sun is shining.... and the temperature is close to 50 degrees outside. The snow is finally melting also. I am ready for spring to arrive. But.... winter is still here with us.... I know this spring type of weather will not last for long before we get another snow storm. Soon though.... Spring will arrive..... all the flowers will be in full bloom.
