Knitting project planning

Not much knitting project planning going on this week. I have been too busy. However I do have several projects on the needles at the moment. Several purses and plans for more. I also have yarn wound for making a pair of socks using some Lornas Laces Sheppherd Sock yarn.
I have managed to get more yarn spun this week. I have several that are ready to be plied, washed, hung out to dry and labeled/priced.
This has been a very busy, hectic week. I seem to be on the road ALOT lately with running my son to work and my daughter to cross country practices, now choir camp for 3 days and next week is cross country camp. And school has not even started back up yet. I have a feeling with my daughter in high school this year.... and for the next 4 years.... I am not going to have much free time anymore. She loves being involved in LOTS of school activities and in her free time doing things with her close friends (movies, etc.). I am not complaining though.... she is my very last "child" out of 4 children.... to go through high school. And she is the only one that loves doing all sorts of things..... sports, girl scouts, choir, school spirit activities, clubs, etc. And high school will offer her even more opportunities to participate in a larger variety of things for the next 4 years. I enjoy all of it also. And I enjoy being actively involved in things that my children participate in.
The sad thing though.... in 4 more years..... my "baby" will be out of high school and then what? Thank goodness for lots of hobbies that I enjoy and remain actively wanting to learn more new things. I guess I am realizing my "baby" is almost all grown up now. Where did all of those years go? They just flew by so quickly.
Even though I have been so busy running all over with my children..... I have managed to get some more organizing done for creating space for these lovely yarn trees my husband made for me. I hope to have things all set up in the area I am claiming as my yarn display area for all the handspun yarn I am making.
Yesterday, I started working on another purse. I hope to finish this one over the weekend. I also finished a really cute one that I added Squiggle yarn. I can hardly wait to felt it. I still have the straps to knit.
I am also working on more of the flip flops with the eyelash yarn. Someone ordered a pair and I made myself a pair with pink eyelash yarn, the purse I am now working on is also pink and will have the same pink eyelash trim at the top. I should have enough eyelash yarn left over to make a hair scrunchie.
Oh my goodness...... I just had a interruption while writing...... I had heard earlier a crash of breakables.... in the basement. I ran down to see what fell. It was odd.... a bakers rack which held a couple of pictures in frames on one shelf and a larger rubbermaid container I had on the bottom shelf all had fallen over. I thought that was so odd. I picked up the pictures and put the bakers rack back up. Did not bother to turn on the light nearby though...... BIG MISTAKE! I would have seen this next crash about to happen and been able to prevent it.
I came back upstairs, back to my computer to continue writing..... Then much larger CRASH! Oh my goodness.... now what? I went back downstairs to the basement. Then I found why the bakers rack had fallen over. I had it in front of this larger shelving unit I had just put up. I bought a large shelving unit to put all my porcelain doll molds and a few ceramic molds on it to reorganize that space. I had it all organized and looked great. I was so looking forward to getting back to working on my porcelain dolls once I finished organizing the remainder of the basement.
This larger shelving unit had buckled from the weight of the molds and fell over onto the bakers rack. Thank goodness it was there to break the fall. And I had also not put the Rubbermaid container back on the bakers rack. These two things in addition to the kilns that broke the falls, saved ALL of my molds from becoming a total loss. We are talking some of these molds not being replaceable any longer. Porcelain doll molds are very, very expensive also. I could never afford to replace them. Luckily..... I only had a few molds chip on the outsides, not on the insides. I can glue the pieces that chipped off to repair them.
I am so upset that this large shelving unit which claims to hold up to 200 lbs. per shelf.... did not hold even a fraction of that weight per shelf. I am so ticked off. I do plan to take this shelving unit back to the store where I bought it for a full refund. And will buy some wood shelving units instead. Or.... I may buy the wood and make what I really want. The wood shelving units for now would be best until I can get what I want made. This will be another project for my husband and one of our closest friends.
Sorry for the rant.... but this really upset me to see all of my doll molds clinging to this shelving unit. I am truely blessed to have the type of damage this could have resulted in.
I am also very fortunate to have the help from my husband that had already snuggled into bed, watching a movie on TV. I told him what happened and he came right away to help me. He could tell I was all shaken up and knows how expensive these molds are. Without his help..... I know I would have lost quite a few of the irreplaceable molds. With his help.... we saved all of them with only a few that had chipped during the fall. This could have ended up alot worse.
I have a huge mess to clean up now in addition to needing to find new shelves and do all the organizing of the molds all over again. I guess you all know what I will be doing tomorrow morning..... Yes, you guessed it.
OK.... back to writing about about knitting, etc. Tonight after I delivered camp fees for my daughters cross country camp, I decided to go to Barnes & Noble nearby. I went right to the magazines to look for new knitting magazines. There was a new issue of a magazine I usually buy. I could not remember if I had bought it yet or not. So, I looked at it and put it back. Then went to the section to look at knitting books. I found a book I would love to buy for patterns for baby clothes. My oldest daughter is expecting another baby and I want to make some really cute things for my new grandbaby which is due in February. I also found a few other books that I liked. Knitters Stash and Weekend Knitting. I should look for these on Amazon.com to compare prices.
I also found some patterns today online that I want to buy in the future. One is the a Black Sheep Bags pattern...... Lily. What a cute purse/totebag. I could use up lots of odds and ends of wools for making this purse.
I have a wish list that seems to be growing longer. I have a wish list of yarns I want to buy, patterns and alot more. I love Noro yarns..... I want to buy the one that is various shades of purples and another one that is various shades of pinks/purples.
I also have a longing for more wool roving for spinning. I also need to buy a few more spools for my Ashford Traveller and a Niddy Noddy. There is a fiber event in Michigan next month and another fiber event here in Ohio in September. I really would love to go to the one in Michigan..... but, I may go to the one here in Ohio instead since it is only a couple hours drive from here. I can go stay with visit with my parents also since they live within a hours drive from this event.
My husband and I are actively in search of a new house with seperate building or additional garage with loft for me to have as a place for all my crafty things that I enjoy doing. We are also considering raising alpacas for retirement in a few years. Before we leap into this we have found that there will be a weekend for new or potential alpaca owners. Looks like a great way to find out more before pursuing this venture. Alpacas are really beautiful animals and so loving. We visited an alpaca farm a few weeks ago to start our search for alpacas for our potential alpaca farm. We had a great time at this farm. We met other owners that were getting ready to bring there alpacas to their new farm soon. Their females both recently had babies (crias). They are so adorable. I had one alpaca that just wanted to snuggle with me the entire time I was there. It was as though she was telling me.... pick me.... take me home..... please, please, please. We all had a good laugh as she was really presistent with wanting me to snuggle with her and give her lots of attention. Kind of reminds me of one of my cats.
Well.... I have had enough excitement to deal with for tonight. Time to close for now and get some rest. Tomorrow is another busy, busy day. Doing the Mom thing..... running my son to work and my daughter to choir camp where she will be for the next few days.
In addition to all the running...... I also have a few more things to make for the market on Saturday. I am contemplating whether or not I will bring my spinning wheel and handspun wool yarns I am creating to sell. I guess the weather will determine if I bring the spinning wheel or not. It could rain again this Saturday and not be able to go to the market again this weekend.
