Enjoying the simple things in life
With each day we must enjoy the simple things in life. Keeping this in mind on a daily basis can get one through anything.... the good and the not so good.
Things have been a bit busy and hectic lately. That is just how life is at times.
Now on to the fun things......
Last Saturday was the beginning of my busy season with the start of the Farmers Market selling season. I thoroughly enjoy doing this market and it provides good bonding time with my youngest daughter. We look forward to this time together each year. My youngest daughter and I have so much fun working together as a team.
The sales at the market were a bit slow last weekend.... due to the threat of rain. The rain managed to hold off so that was a good thing. Lots of repeat customers that were happy to see me there to provide them with new products and to restock their soap supply. Lots of compliments on how I have changed the booth set up that I created late last fall. And also many nice compliments on the new items I am creating for the customers this year.
My daughter and I are working on learning to spin and hoping maybe, just maybe later on this season we will have some handspun wool yarn available for the customer. I am also working on a few ideas to put together a knitting kit for the beginner. My daughter has expressed an interest in doing spinning with me to help produce more yarn for me to create more felted purses that I have designed. Also will give me an extra bit of yarn for reselling if we produce enough. For now.... we are enjoying the learning process.
Today I decided to go to Barnes & Noble Bookstore to search for books on spinning. They did not have any in the store but would order for me. So, they helped search on their online site and we found several books that we ordered. Should have these books within the next week or two. I can hardly wait. I figured since the one store that does teach spinning will not have classes until later in June, I might as well do some research and teach myself instead. So.... this is yet another "hobby" that will be self taught. Classes would be fun though and may still pursue enrolling.
In a few weeks there will be another Fiber Gathering in Ohio. This one is going to be held in Wooster, Ohio and I am already planning to attend this event. Should be a fun day. May even place a call to find out about potential classes and availability for an opening for me to participate. That would be fun. Anyways.... I am saving up from the market sales over the next few weeks for more fiber for spinning and possibly more handpainted wools.
I am busy knitting more purses that I am felting and will be selling at the market each week. These are all turning out so pretty. I made one yesterday for my daughter in the school colors and even found a paw print which it part of their panther mascot logo. We showed this to one of my daughters friends and she loved it also. Now I have one in mind for making for Ohio State University colors. I am really having so much fun with creating these unique purses. I am just hoping others will like them too and buy them.... if not.... these will make great gifts.
I have other knitting projects waiting to be begun..... knitted cotton tank tops, socks, scarves (for fall), a few baby blankets, baby sweaters, baby socks and booties, slippers, vest and a few sweaters. All of this should keep me busy for awhile.
Well... this is about all that I have to share for now. Hopefully things will settle down a bit in the near future so that I have more time to write. Looks like our schedule is going to be a bit busier though for the next month or so. Lots of things coming up within the next few weeks.
I guess I should mention just how busy the weeks ahead will be.......
This weekend is my youngest daughters semi formal dance. My son's Senior prom is next weekend and then the after prom activities. My husband is due to go out of town again on business.... this time to Brazil. Hmmmmm.... I may do some research for yarns or other neat things that he can shop for while he is there. And then.... there are lots of other appointments, etc. that are scheduled over the next few weeks that will keep us busy, busy, busy. On June 5th.... my son will graduate. That entire week leading up to graduation is filled with lots of events that are a part of graduation "week". And once the graduation day arrives it will be an all day (starting at 7 AM) event. Immediately following the graduation.... I have a HUGE party planned for my son. We have relatives and friends from out of town arriving for this and have our work cut out for us in all the preparations for this special day. My son is graduating with High Honors and am one very proud Mom for all the hard work he has done to achieve this over the past several years. It is amazing though that with all he has gone through that he has managed to continue to achieve the High Honor status through some very difficult times. For this.... I am proud of him to work as hard as he has for all of these years. And yes..... on the day of graduation when his called to cross the stage to accept his honors diploma.... I will be in tears. Tears of joy.... but yes... there will be many tears. Amazing that he is all grown up now.... It seems like only yesterday when he was just entering the world and remember like it was only yesterday when I took him to school for his very first day. Where did all of those years go? It feels too soon for him to be all grown up and entering the adult world.
Again we are back to how I started this entry for today...... Enjoy the simple things in life. And for each day.... enjoy each moment and cherish it as though it were a special gift.
Sharon
