Secret Pal2
I am particpating in a couple of Secret Pal swaps and one of these swap groups has sent out a questionaire to help our secret pals learn a little more about us. So.... here are the answers to questions. 1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high-end/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? Yes, I would probably be considered as a yarn snob. I love all the finer yarns. I am not very fond of acrylic. It is too harsh on my hands to work with. I would only use acrylic now for making baby blankets or other projects where machine washing/drying is a must. I love natural fibers - both for yarn and fiber for spinning. Handpainted, with lots of color. The only other yarns I enjoy are novelty type yarns for accenting items. I love eyelash yarns, other novelty types to blend with other fibers for scarves, felted purses, slippers. Anything unique for the projects mentioned. 2. Do you spin? Crochet? Spinning I have begun to learn. I bought my spinning wheel (Ashford Traveler) in April and attended 2 fiber events to stock up on lots of beautiful fibers for spinning. I am now in need of more fiber. I love lots of vibrant colors, jewel tones. I am doing well with the spinning and really enjoying it alot. So relaxing to sit and spin. Eventually.... I would love to acquire a nice fleece or two for spinning. I have recently bought an alpaca prime fleece from the first shearing of a cria. Really a lovely fleece that I look forward to spinning soon. Crochet - I only crochet edging on projects and have made some crochet blankets in the past as gifts. I really prefer knitting. 3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.) I'm extremely allergic to smoke. I am not allergic to cats.... I have 6 precious cats. 4. How long have you been knitting? I began knitting when I was only 8 or 9 years old. So.... over 37+ years ago. 5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? No. But, I do have a wish list.... not online though. And I buy most of my books and magazines from our local Barnes & Noble store. 6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) I love a variety of scents. Fruit scents, perfume scents, herbal scents, etc. I don't really care for food type of fragrance scents. 7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Most definitely!!!! Love dark chocolate and also mint. 8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Soapmaking, lotion making, candlemaking, glass jewelry making, machine embroidery, sewing, porcelain dollmaking. Love making all types of arts and crafty type of things. 9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if you want to make her a CD) I don't own a MP3. I love soothing, relaxation type of music. Classical also. I also enjoy some country music from various artists. 10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Vibrant colors - Pinks, purples, blues.... jewel tones also. 11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married, have 4 children. 2 are grown, 1 just graduated and one starting high school this year. I am also a grandmother. I have 2 step-children. We have 6 precious kitties. They are very spoiled and pampered by the family. Exactly what they all deserve.... each of our kitties are rescues and really needed someone to love and spoil them. 12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know) I life dream at this point in my life is to be able to travel once my children are all grown up and out on their own. I would love to spend the winter months in Florida and live here in the north during the warmer months. I would love to have with our next house a seperate building where I could keep all my art/craft supplies, have space to create and also teach classes again. I hope sharing these answers to questions in additon to all that I write on my blog will be helpful for my secret pals.
